“This team is led by 6 seniors. This helps to replace the key players that have graduated. Jordan Hellmuth will replace All-State and 1st Team BWAC Andrew Sams at the 1. He has very big shoes to fill but brings quickness and composure to the position. This team’s strength is experience and years of playing together. It is a great group of kids that quickly adapt. We also return starters Trevor Boers and Jakob Sawyers as well as a solid core of bench players. There are opportunities for guys to step up. This will help the intensity of practice as guys will be battling for playing time. Sophomores Joey Montney and Kaden Braun had a solid off season and look to push the upper classman.
We (Capac) are entering the Greater Thumb Conference (GTC) and will play teams that we have not played in the past. GTC basketball is tough and physical. We know we will need to bring our best every night.”
– Coach Boers Sr.
This Capac team is led by one of the most improved seniors in Michigan, Trevor Boers. He is a versatile big man that can match skills with any post player in the state. With him anchoring the lineup and players like Sawyers and Hellmuth improving and stepping into key roles, Capac will be a dangerous opponent. Their senior leadership and the way they play as a ‘team’ help them win tough games. Look for Capac to be in the thick of the GTC title race, a favorite for a District Championship, and a Regional Championship contender.
