Best Available: 2019 Shooting Guards
The high school season is less than three weeks away and we are at a point where commitments and best available are highly relevant. At the end of each month throughout the season, we will be diving into those players still on the board and looking at who fits where. Things can change in the span of a week so each month should provide us with a whole new view on the landscape.
Today, we are looking at the 2019 shooting guard and the players still remaining on the board. We list the DI, DII, NAIA, and DIII targets. As a note, these are based off of where we think the player will excel at the highest level. Players will get recruited above and below the level we have them listed for but it is our estimation that these are where they would succeed the most.
Already Off The Board:
This 2019 class of shooting guards has quietly impressed with Newman and Franklin both developing and turning into Big Ten level talent later in their careers. Having four guys already committed to DI schools is pretty solid and with Hemenway and Banks likely to commit soon, both to DI programs, that would give you six at the level.

DI Targets Still On The Board:
Hemenway and Banks will both likely be off the board soon, Hemenway likely this week. Alex gives you more of a on-ball guard who can play and score well on the wing. Banks is a fairly straight forward scoring guard with good size and scoring ability at all three levels. Both high character players that will fit into any of their school choices.

DII Targets Still On The Board:
There aren’t going to be many options for DII programs if they need a combo or off-guard in this class and really, it wouldn’t surprise if there ended up being none that happened to commit to DII programs at all. I’m fairly higher on Hensley than most and he could fit into a GLIAC type school that needs shooting over other skills. But outside of him, not many you can feel comfortable with.

NAIA Targets Still On The Board:
NAIA programs will have some pretty interesting options for this 2019 class. There are a few guys in this grouping that could be high level players at that level. Elijah Hales isn’t a guy who is going to fit every team but if he fits, he is going to be very good. Will Penny has the skill and talent to be a high level player, just needs the focus. Paxon Bartley is one of the more under-the-radar scorers in the state. Would put him and Cory Richards as the best all-around scorers of this group.

DIII Targets Still On The Board:
DIII programs should have a field day. There are still a lot of guys on the board and it wouldn’t be surprising if some of the NAIA talent listed above drops down a bit. Ben Greller, Max Chaplin, and Jadon Dance are some of the more impactful players of this group. Also take a look at Greller, Connor Jones, and Dustin Hudak as some of the more versatile players.
