Best Available: 2019 Point Guards
The high school season is less than three weeks away and we are at a point where commitments and best available are highly relevant. At the end of each month throughout the season, we will be diving into those players still on the board and looking at who fits where. Things can change in the span of a week so each month should provide us with a whole new view on the landscape.
Today, we are looking at the 2019 point guard and this players still remaining on the board. We list the DI, DII, NAIA, and DIII targets. As a note, these are based off of where we think the player will excel at the highest level. Players will get recruited above and below the level we have them listed for but it is our estimation that these are where they would succeed the most.
Already Off The Board:
The group of point guards already off the board is pretty impressive. With four players already committed to DI programs, this is one of the better groups of point guards we have had in some time. The matchup between Drew Lutz and Spencer Piercefield in the Crossroads League is one to watch for the next four years.

DI Targets Still On The Board:
There are only two guys here that make sense for DI programs to really look at. Big difference between the two where Brown is more of an athlete who can score the ball well enough to play off the ball, Alford is much more of an on-ball guy who can score in more ways. Depends on what you need from your position.

DII Targets Still On The Board:
There aren’t a ton of DII guys either in this class. Most are off the board already and now we just have a few more to look at. Moore and McKeeman aren’t the tallest guards but both shoot the lights out of the ball. Dan is the better, more consistent shooter but Moore can go off at any time and put up big numbers. Matthews will provide you with more size and versatility. He’s really just breaking the surface and would be a good long term play.

NAIA Targets Still On The Board:
There are a ton of guys for the small school programs to key in on. A few of the notables here are J.P. Carroll, Willie Jackson, and Maurion Martin. Carroll is a guy that will provide leadership and motivation to go along with his toughness in the lane. Not the biggest guy in size but heart is massive. Jackson has been playing better the last few times we have seen him. Still trying to breakout more and impact the game. If he snaps and figures it out, could be a steal at this level. Martin is one of the more under-the-radar guys but at 6’3, he has enough size and handles to give a team a different look. Needs more consistency on offense but he’s different than anyone else on this list.

DIII Targets Still On The Board
The guys who are looking at DIII programs, there are quite a few high-powered scorers. Really like what Wyatt Felling has turned into. He showed his upside this summer. Zach Banks and Andrew Williams are two guys to look at if you need more offense from the point of attack. Love the upside of Cameron Maul and A.J. White. Landon Newnum and Felling are the two best shooters in this group.
