Bennett Mohn commits to Longwood University
Scout’s Take: On Monday, October 8, Lake Travis/Centex Lockdown Small Forward Bennett Mohn ended his recruitment by committing to the Longwood University Lancers. Mohn is a wing with great size who has solid approach to the game. He knocks down spot-up three pointers, aggressively attacks the basket, and scores off the wing. The Austin native is a basketball player who is not too flashy, but productive. Bennett chose Longwood over other schools such as: Air Force, Texas-Rio Grande Valley, and UT-Tyler.
Q&A Session
Brandon:What led to your decision to commit to Longwood University?
Bennett: I wanted to go to a D1 program and I wanted a good education to go with it, which Longwood has. They just got a great new head coach with coach Aldrich from UMBC. I believe his offense will fit me perfectly because there is a lot of ball movement and kick out for threes. It is very high tempo which I like. Also, for their education, they have great majors in finance and real estate that I can double major in.
Brandon: What should Longwood University Lancer fans expect from Bennett Mohn on the basketball court? What do you feel you can bring to the team to help them over the next 4 years?
Bennett: I feel I can bring defense and knock down shooting. I can be a solid 3&D option for the Lancers.
Brandon: You spent your last year of summer basketball playing with Centex Lockdown. How long have you been playing with Lockdown and how was your experience playing with them?
Bennett: That was my first year playing with them and it was a great experience. Great coaches that pushed everyone every practice to get better. Coach Dion was great at getting college coaches to our games and interested in his players.
Brandon: (Off Topic Question) Who is your favorite player in the NBA and why?
Bennett: I would say Klay Thompson because he is a competitor, a great shooter, and a great defender. He plays the game really well.
Brandon:Your high school team will be one of the best teams in the city of Austin and in the state of Texas. What are your personal and team goals for this upcoming high school season?
Bennett: My personal goal is to make 100 threes and to make 1st team all conference. As a team I would like for us to get first in our conference and make it to state and then might as well win it if we get there.
Brandon: What teams are you looking forward to playing?
Bennett: We just moved into a new conference of teams, so I’m not sure what to expect but I’m definitely looking forward to the Austin Westlake game. December 11th we play them at home!
Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed this interview. Now that he is done with the recruiting process, look for Bennett to have a big season for Lake Travis playing alongside 2019 point guard Ryan Bormann and nationally ranked big man D.J. Thorpe.
