All-Met Candidate: Justin Moore
We’ve been taking an up close look at 10 First Team All-Met candidates in the DMV. With all things being considered, our prediction covers three categories: individual production, team performance, and level of competition. We’ve been releasing one candidate each day, with the players organized in alphabetical order by last name. Here, we profile Villanova commit Justin Moore, a senior at DeMatha.
PRODUCTION
Justin Moore was named to the All-Met First Team as a junior, coming off a knee injury which cut his sophomore year short and deprived him of playing AAU ball the following summer. After looking very strong and dominant down the stretch of last season and throughout the summer, we think Moore will be in good position to repeat as All-Met First Teamer. Look for the Villanova commit to be one of the area’s most consistent scorers, but to also play a solid all-around game on both ends of the floor.
PERFORMANCE
In our WCAC Preview, we picked DeMatha as the favorite to win the ultra-competitive league, and Moore is certainly a major reason why. After a productive junior year in which the Stags were quite dominant, Look for for Moore to help propel them to another potentially dominant campaign.
COMPETITION
We don’t know DeMatha’s full season schedule yet, but each year they challenge themselves on a national level, and a some of the opponents they will face during the season have been revealed. IMG, Roman Catholic, and Olive Branch are some of the tough tests they will face out of conference. Let’s not understate how competitive the WCAC is. Last year there were three teams ranked nationally in the top-ten from the league at one point, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see that at some point again this year.
