All-Met Candidate: Jakai Robinson
We’ve been taking an up close look at 10 First Team All-Met candidates in the DMV. With all things being considered, our prediction covers three categories: individual production, team performance, and level of competition. We’ve been releasing one candidate each day, with the players organized in alphabetical order by last name. Here, we profile Jakai Robinson, a sophomore at National Christian.
PRODUCTION
As a freshman, Jakai Robinson averaged nearly 19 points per game. At 6-foot-5, Robinson is an athletic lefty who plays with a high motor, can handle the ball and finish strong through contact. The next step for him will be to develop a consistent perimeter jump shot, and if he can do that it will be difficult for opponents to defend him.
PERFORMANCE
National Christian has a lot of talent this year, and we think they are the favorite to win the Capital Beltway League. With a very good front line and a reliable floor general alongside Robinson, there’s no reason why they should not be able to compete with all the top teams in the area.
COMPETITION
NCA faces good competition in their league with teams such as Rock Creek, Virginia Academy, Capitol Christian, and Middleburg Academy on the schedule. Woodrow Wilson will be a tough test for them, and should be a fun watch. Coach Trevor Brown does a good job of testing his team throughout the season with tough tests, and given the talent he has this year, we think he will build a strong schedule.
