Tyrese Maxey is a 5-star prospect, the best shooting guard in the country, and the best player in the state of Texas. His “herky-jerky” style of play reminds me of Dwyane Wade. He is a better shooter then Wade is, however the way he attacks the rim, finishes through contact, and lives at the free throw line is the reason draw the comparison. Maxey along with four-star Chris Harris Chris Harris 5'10" | PG Fort Bend Hightower | 2020 State TX Jr. (will be mentioned later) will help lead South Garland back to San Antonio this March.
Battle for the Number Two Spot
One of the top four-star prospects has transferred back home from Oak Hill Academy in Virginia claimed his name as the second best shooting guard in the state of Texas. However, just one spot after him in the 2019 rankings is strongly-built sharpshooting scorer Chris Harris Chris Harris 5'10" | PG Fort Bend Hightower | 2020 State TX Jr. Then Donovan Williams comes in right after Harris Jr. Needless to say, Jahmius Ramsey‘s spot can easily be snatch by the two previously mentioned nationally ranked prospects or by the elusive and shifty combo-guard Avery Anderson.
Watch out for…
prospect Quinton Ford. He had a solid summer for T.J. Ford Austin and looks to keep up the same level of play going into the high school season. Ford has a slash and score mindset but can also knock down the open three when his feet are set. He opens eyes in transition because of his ability to make plays above the rim. Ford holds two division 1 offers from Northern Colorado and UT-Arlington.
The sleeper for this position is…
Fort Worth Dunbar/Texas Impact 4:13 guard Jeremiah Keys. Keys is athletic as it gets. He has a quick first step to the basket and explodes off the floor to finish in the paint. He has a skinny frame but plays strong. Keys also has the ability to connect on shots from deep. He should be a target for Division I junior colleges and Division II schools.
