2019 : Available Small Forwards
Prep Hoops takes a look at the small forwards in the State of South Carolina. This group of players is very talented from top to bottom.
Jalyn McCreary – Legacy Early College (Greenville)
McCreary 6’7 arrive this fall a Legacy Early College after moving in from Kennesaw, GA.McCreary attended Kennesaw Mountain High School last season. McCreary a left-handed small forward has good play-making ability and size. Rutgers was recently into see him play while UNC-Asheville offered him over the weekend according to Lions Assistant Coach Mike Alexander.
Marlow Gilmore – Hunter-Kinard-Tyler (Neeses) (pictured on front)
Gilmore is a high flyer on the floor for the Trojans. Gilmore 6’7 a run-jump-athlete plays at a small 1-A school in Orangeburg County. Gilmore averaged 20 ppg last season. Gilmore has received interest from Queens University of Charlotte (NC) (NCAA D2), Catawba (NC) (NCAA D2) and Lincoln Memorial (TN) (NCAA D2)
Shane McCravy – Oceanside Collegiate (Mount Pleasant)
McCravy recently played really well at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo in Myrtle Beach back in September. McCravy and the Landsharks will be eligible for post season play this coming season. McCravy 6’4 averaged 19.8 ppg last season. McCravy is very strong in the classroom with a 4.5 GPA.
Rashamel Butler – Ridgeland-Hardeeville HS (Ridgeland)
Butler had a big season last year for the Jaguars averaging 19 ppg. Butler 6’3 has picked up a offer from Lander University (SC) (NCAA D2) already. Butler plays in the Lowcountry near the Georgia border. The Jaguars fell in the 3-A State Championship Game last season to Greenville Southside HS.
Darius Boatwright – Wilson HS (Florence)
Boatwright 6’7 transferred to the Tigers this season from nearby Dillon HS. Boatwright a slender-sleek perimeter player has great length and wingspan. Boatwright can knockdown the 3-ball when he has time to set his feet.
Omar Croskey – Sumter HS
Croskey really came on strong this summer on the Grassroots Circuit. Croskey 6’5 left-handed wing has picked up interest from South Carolina State, Coker College (SC) (NCAA D2), Francis Marion (SC) (NCAA D2), and Salem University (WV) (NCAA D2). Prep Hoops first saw play with the South Carolina Hornets AAU program.
Trevur Smalls – Berkeley HS (Moncks Corner)
Smalls 6’5 will look to add to his numbers this season after averaging 12.7 ppg and 5.2 rebounds. Smalls has received interest from North Carolina A&T and South Carolina State.
Kamal Desor – Dorman HS (Roebuck)
Desor has been concentrating on football all fall with the Cavaliers. Desor came back to Dorman HS after attending Boiling Springs HS the past 2 seasons. Desor a wide receiver picked up a basketball offer from Young Harris (GA) (NCAA D2) back in the summer. Wofford has shown interest on the gridiron.
Jamarvious Jones – Strom Thurmond HS (Johnston)
Jones is coming off a year where he averaged 18 ppg and 12 rebounds for Head Coach Bo Rouse and the Rebels. last season. Jones excels I nthe transition game and has the ability to stalk the baseline.
