Week 1 Recruiting Roundup
9/10-9/16 was a hot week all around the state of Georgia, as coaches were now able to attend workouts of potential prospects. Tons of schools from various levels went to check guys out, offers were given out, a few players committed, and this past weekend there were numerous visits to campuses. Take a look at what went on in the Peach State.
As expected, Norcross hosted many schools on their campus. Flordia, Alabama, UCLA, UGA, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, UT-Chattanooga, Appalachian State, Princeton, Georgia State, and South Alabama came in at some point during the week. This trend is one that should continue with prospects like BJ Boston, Kyle Sturdivant, Issa Muhammad, Caleb Murphy, and others on the team.
At Discovery, Michigan, Longwood, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Wofford, Alabama, Lipscomb, Tennessee, High Point, Charleston Southern, South Alabama, and James Madison all checked out the Titan players. 2020 guards Jaden Walker and London Riley will attract lots of coaches, as well as 2019 Discovery prospects Leslie Nkereuwem, Hasahnn Reynolds, and Ian Hardy.
Lambert had a busy week also, with schools coming to look at 2020s Colin Granger and Luke Champion, along with 2019 PG Mitch Ganote. Clemson, Lipscomb, UNC-Asheville, Cornell, Belmont, Mercer, Emmanuel, High Point, Longwood, and Mount St. Mary’s were in for the Longhorn prospects. Champion also visited Mississippi State over the weekend.
For Wheeler, some of the schools that stopped in were Tennessee Tech, Appalachian State, Lipscomb, Western Carolina, Murray State, and James Madison. Malachi Rhodes and Sam Hines will get a healthy amount of looks this fall. Cal-Berkeley commit Charles Smith IV also attends Wheeler.
Kentucky, Maryland, UCLA, and Georgia Southern were a few of the programs at Holy Spirit last week. Top 2020 prospect Anthony Edwards will have all the big-time schools coming in to see him, but 2019 forwards Ibrahima Jarjou and Ahmir Langlais will have their fair share of attention over the next few weeks. Jarjou received an offer from Indiana State last week.
Gardner-Webb and Wofford both came by Mountain View last week for workouts. The Bears also had 3 guys visit Clayton State over the weekend in Eric Jones, Elijah Wilson, and Cam Rowland. Wilson was offered by CSU following the visit.
UGA hosted a plethora of prospects on their campus on Saturday, including 2020s KD Johnson, Quincy Canty, and Tyler Johnson. There were almost too many to list who visited, but KD Johnson was the lone prospect to leave with an offer.
Some other recruiting notes include Top 2021 post Cole Middleton receiving his first offer from Georgia State, Kevin Powell being offered by Navy, and both Quincy Olivari and Ben Sheppard committing to respective schools. Two stock-rising guards from the summer, Olivari committed to Rice following his official visit, and Sheppard committed to Belmont.
