Top Returning 2020 Shot Blockers
We highlight the top returning shot blockers in the 2020 class from last year. These guys led the 2020 class in blocks per game and come back this year and look to push their totals even higher. They were the best in the 2020 class at blocking shots. There are some missing players as some statistics from players were not uploaded to maxpreps.com.
Kiyron Powell (Evansville Bosse) – 6’8 PF – 7.3 BPG
Powell is an unbelievable talent and is still getting better. He had a huge growth spurt coming into last year and now that he is getting more comfortable in his body he will have a huge year. He is a defensive menace and he led the nation in blocks and it wasn’t even close. He had 68 more blocks than the second place man and Powell played four less games.
Noah Hupmann (Evansville Day) – 6’10 C – 5.4 BPG
While Powell was first in blocks in the nation per game, Hupmann was second in blocks per game. He was 11th overall in total blocks. Hupmann is a tall, skinny center who is pushing to be seven feet tall. He knows how to control himself in the air and has really good IQ allowing him to block shots.
Christian Fowler (Union (Modoc)) – 6’6 C – 3.3 BPG
Fowler is one bright spot for Union (Modoc). He is a guy who is going to be able to swat pretty much everything away once it comes in the paint. The guards are that great for them so he is going to have a lot of opportunities to swat shots in the paint.
Nathan Dukich (Lake Station) – 6’5 PF – 2.3 BPG
Dukich is a big bodied post who uses his wingspan well. He is able to dictate what the offensive player is going to do and he is able to get in the way pretty well. Lake Station counts on him to run the show in the paint and he does that really well.
Carson Barrett (Lafayette Central Catholic) – 6’3 SF – 1.8 BPG
Barrett has shown up al over these rankings. He is such a good player for LCC and he is really the guy that runs the show. He is one of the best all around players in the state even as a junior to be. Barrett will get more blocks this year as he comes in stronger and improved.
