Top 250 Expo: Top shooters who raised their profile (2019)
Here is a look at several of the top shooters in the 2019 class who raised their profile at the Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo held on Sunday at Blue Valley West.
9 — Braden Belt, 6’1, G, 2019, Andover (Kan.)
Easily one of the camps premier outside shooters, Belt has a smooth, quick release. He is sleight of build, but don’t let that fool you — he brings toughness to the floor and is strong with the ball. Belt is probably at his best on the 3-point arc as a catch-and-shoot guy, but is a crafty ball handler who can do a little bit of everything, including creating offense for himself off the bounce.
14 — Levi Braun, 6’3, G, 2019, Hayden (Kan.)
Braun has developed into an elite shooter from behind the 3-point arc and showed off his range and quick release throughout Sunday’s event at Blue Valley West. He is a capable ball handler who can slide over and handle some PG duties, but is at his best putting the ball in the basket. He is a crafty ball handler who uses good hesitation moves to free himself up for drives to the basket or open jumpers.
34-TJ Fritz, 6’3, G/F, 2019, Wamego (Kan.)
A versatile player who can come through with rebounds and defensive stops. Fritz can block shots and has long arms and good size. He has a high release and a smooth step-back that is impossible to get a hand on. That 3-pointer started falling after a bit and the crowd couldn’t handle it. As soon as defenders realized he could shoot the 3, Fritz took the ball the hole.
116 — Sam Nicodemus, 5’9, G, 2020, Olathe West (Kan.)
A small, left handed guard, Nicodemus showed the ability to handle the ball under pressure and make open shots during play at Blue Valley West. He is a crafty ball handler who picks his spots and is willing to play within a team concept.
