Top 250 Expo: Top scoring guards who raised their profile (2019)
Here is a look at several of the top scoring guards in the 2019 class who raised their profile at the Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo held on Sunday at Blue Valley West.
14 — Levi Braun, 6’3, G, 2019, Hayden (Kan.)
Braun is gearing up for a big season at Hayden after a strong offseason with SSA Elite. With the graduation of key performers at Hayden, Braun will likely see his scoring numbers go up even more and he showed on Sunday at Blue Valley West the type of all-around game that will lead to big numbers. He is a knock down perimeter shooter, but is capable ball handler who can create his own shot off the dribble, get to the basket or pull up off the bounce for jumpers.
49 — Jax Holland, 6’2, G, 2019, Maranatha Academy (Kan.)
Holland has size, athleticism and some skill to boot as he showed the ability to fill it up from all over the floor. He can shoot the 3 with range and is deadly when he has his feet set from distance. Holland can create his own shot off the bounce and has some shake-and-bake in his game. He showed off his athleticism with a handful of dunks in the game competition part of the event.
53-Tymer Jackson, 6’0, G, 2019, Olathe North (Kan.)
Jackson’s game looks best when the ball is moving and there is space on the floor. He can score near the basket and can dance his way through the lane. He has a feel for his position and can make things happen when nothing is there. He fights through coverage and finds an opening. He’s a guard, but he looks great on the block. Jackson can even make plays with his back to the basket.
60 — Spencer Jones, 6’6, G/F, 2019, Bishop Miege (Kan.)
One of the state’s premier players in the 2019 class, Jones showed his all-around skills throughout the event on Sunday. He has a big, strong frame and good size and athleticism at 6’6, and can do a variety of things. At the offensive end of the floor, he was able to finish a lot of baskets in the paint and did some damage in transition. He also showed the ability to dominate the glass at the defensive end of the floor, and even in an up-and-down camp type setting, he showed he is capable of defending at a high level.
