Top 250 Expo: Top perfomers, guards (2020)
Here is a look at several 2020 guards who raised their profile at the Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo held on Sunday at Blue Valley West.
5 — Spencer Bain, 6’2, PG, 2020, Blue Valley West (Kan.)
Bain had a terrific performance throughout Sunday’s event, showcasing size, some athleticism and an all-around game. Bain’s game lends itself to a free flowing, up-and-down event and he showcased a competitive drive and a lot of shake-and-bake as he created plays off the dribble, got to the basket and created for himself and others.
11-Ty Berry, 6’4, G, 2020, Newton (Kan.)
One of the state’s premier players showed he is an all-around talent, displaying the ability to play either guard spot with good size, court vision and the ability to put the ball in the basket. Berry has a dynamic game at times that translates to buckets and assists left and right. Kid has all the moves you can ask for and an ability to find an opening wherever he goes. When Berry has the ball, he’s nearly impossible to stop.
22-Steele Chapman, 6’1, PG, 2020, Campus (Kan.)
A lefty shooter who uses his shoulder to feel for a break in space. Chapman is always the first person back on defense and has a habit of forcing mistakes and finishing on the other end. He can also fight through adversity and run the show up top. A smart passer with good vision, Chapman made noise on both sides of the ball. He plays just as hard on defense as he does on offense.
99 — Jordan Vincent, 6’3, G, 2020, Goddard Eisenhower (Kan.)
A varsity regular at Eisenhower since his freshman season, Vincent appears poised for a breakout junior year after a strong offseason with KC Run GMC. He is a skilled offensive player who can score in a variety of ways, including knocking down open shots and putting his head down and driving hard to the basket. But showed on Sunday at Blue Valley West an all-around game as he rebounded and defended at a high level. He has good athleticism and a long, rangy build that allows him to challenge shots at the defensive end of the floor.
