Top 250 Expo: Most versatile (2019)
Here is a look at several of the most versatile 2019 players who raised their profile at the Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo held on Sunday at Blue Valley West.
27-Jacob Coleman, 6’6, G/F, 2019, Basehor-Linwood (Kan.)
A tall post player who fights his way to the basket and lives for contact plays. Coleman has a soft touch to his shot and can use his length to get his shot off in the paint and behind the line. He plays a solid speed, and can pin the ball on the glass on the defensive end. He also has a nose for the ball that is all his own. He fights to get in position and cashes in hustle plays more often than not.
37 — Montana Griffin, 6’3, G, 2019, Burlingame (Kan.)
Griffin is a versatile, well-rounded guard with good size, and a long, rangy frame. He is at his best playing off the ball, moves and cuts well off the ball, and can stick open shots from the perimeter. Griffin had some solid moments on Sunday and showed the ability to defend some of the state’s best players as he held his own at that end of the floor as well.
96 — Dale Talley III, 6’4, G, 2019, Shawnee Mission Northeast (Kan.)
A tall player who can finish around the rim through contact. Talley goes after the ball and sacrifices himself to make the right play. See him pin a shot on the glass and turn around and score on the other end. He just knows how to compete on both sides of the floor. He fights for the ball when it’s in front of him and can force opponents to make mistakes and use their weak hand. Guy can put up big numbers as well.
106-Jacob Weber, 6’3, G/F, 2019, Winfield (Kan.)
An excellent team player who thinks of others and plays an unselfish game. Weber puts everything he has into the game and plays hard on defense as well. You’ll struggle to find an athlete who puts so much energy into plays on both sides of the ball. Weber is very quick with the ball and can dominate at times through his hustle and 3-point shooting. Defenders unfamiliar with his game were quick to adjust their defensive schemes to make life more difficult for him.
