Here is a look at some of the top defensive players from last weekend’s Prep Hoops Missouri Top 250 Expo in St. Louis:

Aladji Gasama 6’10” DeSmet (2021): Excellent rim-protector who led the event in blocked shots.

DeMarion Shanklin 6’2″ Jennings (2021): Used his length and quickness to pick pockets get into the passing lanes.

Omena Oberuwvu 6’7″ Missouri Military Academy (2019): Active shot blocker who ran the court and had some impressive chase down blocks.

Tahja Stewart 6’3″ Waynesville (2019): Versatile defender who was athletic enough to guard wings and strong enough to guard post players inside.

Jonathan Dyer 6’1″ Vianney (2019): He was a hard working defender as he picked up his man and guarded him from end to end.

Daniel Abreu 6’5″ Willard (2020): A good communicator on defense who can play the pick and roll and block shots in the post.

Ilyaas Harris 5’9″ Marquette (2021): An aggressive on-ball defender who has quick hands to pick pockets.

Vemetrius Jackson 5’6″ Miller Career Academy (2021): A quick guard who plays good on-ball defense.

Isaiah Johnson 6’2″ Battle (2021: Did a nice job of getting into the passing lanes and creating steals.
