Top 250 Expo: Stock risers, PGs (2020)
Here is a look at several 2020 PGs who raised their profile at the Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo held on Sunday at Blue Valley West.
104-Elijas Watson, 5’10, G, 2020, Shawnee Heights (Kan.)
Watson has nice handles and is comfortable running the show. He’s flashy with the ball but never lets the ball get away from him. He was one of the first players to spin around two defenders on his way to the basket. Watson has an eye for openings and can take the ball to the basket and loose defenders in the paint well. He’s also consistent from deep.
65 — Peyton Mallory, 5’11, G, 2020, Lawrence (Kan.)
Mallory is a young guard who found his spots on a talented team as he showed the ability to stick his nose in the paint and get defensive rebounds, as also ran the floor well for several easy baskets in transition. He shows a developing outside jumper, and is capable of making outside shots.
81 — Trey Reid, 6’1, G, 2020, Maize South (Kan.)
Reid has seen his stock rise this summer competing for NLHA and brings good size and athleticism to the point guard position. He plays the game under control, handles the ball well and has a smooth nature about his game.
115-Derick Lavan, 5’8, G, 2020, Shawnee Mission North (Kan.)
Lavan is an excellent passer and floor general when given the chance to run things for himself. He was timid to start, but took off and didn’t look back as the day progressed. He knows when to take advantage of matchups and found respect with his back door cuts and athletic finishes around the basket.
