Top 250 Expo: Guards who raised their profile (2020)
Here is a look at several 2020 guards who raised their profile at the Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo held on Sunday at Blue Valley West.
52-Qua’Vez Humphreys, 6’2, G, 2020, Junction City (Kan.)
One of the more unexpected players to make a huge impression out of the gate. As a smooth corner shooter, Humphreys drew a lot of attention outside the line. Once they went out to meet him, he split defenders and finished above the rim. Humphreys can spend time behind the line and dominate off the dribble. He’s an impressive guard who can run the show and play off the ball against any defense. Also one of the better dunkers of the day.
55-Koi Jackson, 5’9, G, 2020, Olathe North (Kan.)
Jackson is a slick guard who can find his way to the basket. He has good vision and can make passes that leave you shaking your head and smiling. He keeps his team on the move. He pushes the tempo and sets his teammates in positions where they can score. Jackson is good at staying in the action when he doesn’t have the ball as well. Also an excellent shooter when he has the look.
20-Koby Campbell, 6’2, G, 2020, Rose Hill (Kan.)
A fine shooter from deep who can get his shot off with a hand in his face. He has a knack for steals at the top of the key and can adjust his shot in transition. Sometimes through the air. Campbell is just a hard-working player. He has a good tempo he likes to play at and he rarely takes his foot off the gas pedal. Campbell looks good wherever he is on the floor, with and without the ball.
3 — Nick Arensburg, 6’2, G, 2020, Shawnee Mission East
Really liked what we saw from Arensburg on Sunday. He’s got a lot of shake and bake in his game, can create his own shot and has the ability to really fill it up from behind the 3-point arc. He has some athleticism and the ability to get by his man and to the basket. He had it all working in the day’s finale, knocking down several contested 3-pointers off the bounce.
