Top 250 Expo: Forwards who raised their stock (2020)
Here is a look at several 2020 forwards who raised their profile at the Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo held on Sunday at Blue Valley West.
13-John Boyer, 6’8, PF/C, 2020, Olathe South (Kan.)
A center who likes to gamble from behind the arc. He is very good at setting screens and can score when he trails the guard all the way to the basket. He is also good at scoring through his hustle plays around the basket. He fights hard for the ball and doesn’t give up on plays.
59 — Kobe Johnson, 6’5, F, 2020, Ottawa (Kan.)
Johnson is a versatile, inside-out forward who brings a big frame to the court and the skill set of a wing player. He is a terrific passer with a good feel for the game and court vision. On Sunday, he showed the ability to play a little on the perimeter, as well as the ability to utilize his size and score around the basket.
90 — Andrew Sonner, 6’5, PF, 2020, Olathe East (Kan.)
Kid has a big strong, physical frame, likes to bang in the pant and around the basket, but can really shoot the ball from the perimeter for a big man. He has a natural feel for the pick-and-pop game and is comfortable leaking out to the arc. Sonner rebounds well and really competes, especially in the post defensively and on the glass.
111-Braeden Wiltse,6’3, F, 2020, Mill Valley (Kan.)
A fast post player who runs the floor and connects on transition play. Wiltse is a good passer and underrated defender. He keeps to himself mostly but is usually ready to make plays off the dribble or score from behind the line when the ball swings his way. He’s clutch in the right moments and is always encouraging his teammates when things don’t work out as planned. A solid player overall.
