Top 250 Expo: 2019 Forwards/Bigs
Listed below are some of the big guys from the Top 250 in Kansas. I was able to checkout most of the big guys from the 2019 class.
Spencer Jones 6’6” Bishop Miege
Jones showed why he is being recruited by Division 1 schools on Sunday. At 6’6”, Jones can do it all, and he’s going to the go to man for his high school basketball team this year. With his height, he gets great space and has a smooth stroke from behind the arc. He’s big enough and quick enough to take it to any big man around the area. While his defense isn’t amazing right now, he’s really improved and will be a force around the rim. It should be an exciting season for Jones and Bishop Miege.
Jacob Coleman 6’5” Basehor Linwood
Coleman showed out on Sunday and although he will probably play some post for his high school team, he is more than capable of playing outside. He has a smooth stroke and might be the go to guy for this team. He can put up points in a hurry and there is no lack of confidence from this guy.
Jarrett Hensley 6’7” Leavenworth High School
Hensley is a slender and very lengthy kid who is still being recruited by D1 and D2 schools. Hensley has a lot of potential and should have a big Senior Season for a solid Leavenworth team. Hensley played against some of the best competition in the world this summer competing with Mokan Elite’s EYBL team. On Sunday he showed some of talents by knocking down 17 footers and even had a great Euro step in the lane. The only thing that worries me, is sometimes he might try to do too much which could get him and his team in trouble. If he lets the game come to him, he will be just fine.
Devon Koehn 6’8” Maize High School
Koehn looked great on Sunday and a few coaches that I spoke with took notice. With Koehn’s size, he’s great around the rim on both sides of the ball. He rebounds the ball well and moves well for a big guy. He can also handle the ball decently well if called upon. He put a player on the floor Sunday with a decent little crossover.
Brendan Smith 6’7” St Francis Borgia Regional High School
Smith caught my eye a little early and showed me that at times he can play with the best of them. The only issue is as he got a little tired and became fatigued, he struggled a bit. He is great in the pick and roll offense and can finish around the rim just fine, but he will need to make sure he is in shape if he wants to compete at a high level.
