The Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo had plenty of guard in attendance for the event. Lets take a look at some of the 2021 guards from the camp this past weekend in Myrtle Beach.

Umar Lawson 6’1 – Laurence Manning Academy (Manning)

Lawson a left-handed guard transferred over to the Swamp Cats this season from nearby Lakewood HS. Lawson really likes to attack the basket and tries to dunk everything possible. Lawson at times needs to look to slowdown instead of trying to play 100 mph.

Ayden Hickman 6’2 – Myrtle Beach HS

Hickman is going to be a good one for the Seahawks. Hickman has a good feel for the game and can really knockdown shots on the perimeter. Hickman a catch-shoot guard has good spacing on the floor and is always shot ready for a look.

EJ McClam 6’1 – Lake City HS  (pictured on front)

Left-handed combo guard is very vocal on the floor. McClam was able to attack the basket by slashing and scored the majority of his points at the rim. McClam is very active at all times and especially away from the ball.

Bryce McIntosh 5’11 – Lake City HS (pictured on front)

McIntosh plays the game with a good basketball feel. McIntosh knows when to pull the ball out and play at a nice even keel at times. McIntosh has a nice ouch on the foul line. McIntosh excels on the baseball diamond as a shortstop.

J’Davien Young 6’2 – Mauldin HS

Young lets the game come to him at times. Young plays very poised for being just a sophomore. Young has good length and in return made some very crisp passes today.

Jett Hammes 5’9 – Pendleton HS

Hammes plays with a lot of grit and toughness. Hammes has a fearless attitude and doesn’t back down from a challenge. Hammes left-handed hit some mid-range jumpers on the day.

Daniel Stratford

Daniel Stratford 5’11 – Mauldin HS

Stratford connected on a few three pointers in the game we took in today. Stratford uses a old school set shot. Stratford generally stayed out on the perimeter.

Avery Spurlock 6’0 – Wardlaw Academy (Johnston)

Spurlock canned a few shots today on the perimeter. Spurlock found the open man and set up his teammates well on several occasions today.

Makoa Surigao

Makoa Surigao 6’0 – West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC)

Surigao played really well today in the camp. Surigao connected on several shots from downtown. Surigao plays with a lot of passion and desire on the floor. Surigao was set to go visit John Hopkins University before deciding on attending the camp. The Shalotte area is just south of Wilmington, NC and saw extensive damage from Hurricane Florence.
