Top 250: 2019 Recruiting Notebook
The PrepHoopsIllinois Top 250 Camp had a ton of college prospects in attendance. Here we catch up with a group of 2019 prospects to get the latest with their recruitments!
PG Fred Cleveland (Leo)
Cleveland is one of the more exciting playmakers at the lead guard spot in his class. We caught up with him to get an update on his recruitment. “Right now I have offers from North Carolina A&T, Lewis, Alcorn State, Detroit, and Chicago State. I am hearing from SIU-Edwardsville and Dartmouth.” Any schools standing out? “North Carolina A&T, Detroit, and Chicago State have been making a big push for me.”
PF DaChaun Anderson (Leo)
Anderson is a physical four man that is a beast rebounder. He has talked with Bethune Cookman, Loras, Upper Iowa, and some other JUCO’s. No offers at this time.
PG Terrion Murdix (Springfield Southeast)
Murdix is a quick and shifty lead guard that led his team all the way to the 3A state title game as a junior. He told us that Chicago State recently offered under new head coach Lance Irvin. What does he like about them? “I like how they are going to play fast and speed the ball up.” Right now Chicago State is the main school involved in his recruitment.
SF Tujautae Williams (Orr)
Williams was one of the higher rated 2019 prospects in the house. The top 20 in-state recruit recently landed an offer from Texas Tech. What standouts out about them? “I like them a lot. I have built a good relationship with them.” What offers are on the table right now? “Texas Tech, SIU-Edwardsville, Northwestern State, Buffalo, and DePaul.” Williams plans on taking an official visit to Texas Tech the last weekend in September. What is he looking for on visit? “I am looking to see what the campus is like, how I fit in, and what the environment is like.” He wants to play out season and sign late.
SG Jamonte Benton (Joliet West)
This Joliet West 6’2” senior spoke about his recent visit to Illinois College. “It was good. Most people think it is a small campus, but it was actually big. I played open gym with the team. They welcomed me.” He is also talking to Greenville and Carroll.
SG Julian Barr (Lincoln Way East)
Barr is a plus shooter from the perimeter that can let it fly from deep. One of the best pure shooters in the state. He talked recruiting with us saying, “I got my latest offer from Ottawa University. Purdue Northwest hit me up the other day. Illinois College and Augustana.”
SG Mohammed Alausa (Chicago U-High)
Alausa is a power wing with athleticism that impressed at the camp. High academic wing. On the recruiting front he said “I am hearing from Holy Cross, Dartmouth, Brown, and Yale. Cornell is coming out for open gym.” He has visited Brown, Dartmouth, and Yale already.
SF Greg Outlaw (Orr)
The Bogan to Orr transfer is one of the best athletes on the perimeter in the senior class. Explosive first step and plays above the rim. When it comes to recruiting he told PHI, “Recruiting is going pretty good. I am talking to Wyoming and UW-Milwaukee.”
PG Jeremiah Washington (Bogan)
This quick twitched and explosive point guard is garnering quite a bit of low-major and D2 looks at this stage. Washington told us, “I am going to be taking a visit to Bethune Cookman soon. Lewis, Northern Michigan, and Ferris State recently got in touch with me.” He holds offers from Lewis, Bethune Cookman, and after the camp Ferris State offered.
PG Jaheim Holden (Evanston)
This lefty Evanston point guard excelled at the PrepHoops Top 250 with his passing, scoring, and overall playmaking ability. He says Southeast Missouri State, Santa Clara, Kent State, and Illinois-Springfield are showing interest. SEMO is expected to get a visit soon. No offers at this time.
F Lamarius Lillard (Momence)
Rangy and athletic forward with upside who emerged during the summer. He told us he has interest from Chicago State, Wright State, Colorado State, and Chicago State.
