The Breakdown Showcase: Noteable ballers and how they faired. (Part 3 of 3)
At The Breakdown Showcase, a lot of 2022 ballers came to stake their claim as a legit prospect. When one thinks of a freshman, u think or expect them to play JV. Nowadays sports have become specialized and kids are competing in one sport year round so the talent level has been steadily rising. There was quite a few 2022 players that were advanced enough to go right to varsity and work their way into the rotation.
Best of 2022
Dominic Gooden | 5’10 PG | Alonso |
Gooden is a natural point guard. He has a smooth flow to his game that’s not flashy but highly effective. He has great handles, vision, and a very high basketball IQ. He controls the game on both ends. Defensively opposing players that were weak with the ball got exposed. Offensively he got everyone involved and will take over if he feels a sense of urgency. This kid will be a difference maker at Alonso and on several schools radar over the next few years.
Kaleb Walters | 6’3 Guard | Miramar |
When Walters stepped onto the court and the ball was swung his way everyone yelled “he’s a shooter.” Truth is he’s a flat out scorer with a assassins mentality. He’s got the full package on offense and defensively he plays the passing lanes very well. He handled himself very well against the upperclassmen so keep an eye out during the season to see how he progresses.
Emanuel Sharp | 6′ Guard | Blake |
Sharp was in attack mode all day long and he had it going. He hit from deep and crossed defenders on his way to the cup for easy scores. I believe Sharp has the skill set that will give him a chance to start at Blake during his freshman campaign.
Christopher (CJ) Hawkins | 6’6 Foward | Berkeley Prep |
Hawkins is a developing stretch 4. He has nice size and a soft shot. In pick and pop situations he thrives. If he tightens up his handles and develops a few post moves, he could be a serious problem for anyone he faces.
Tony Livingston | 6’5 Forward | Carrollwood Day |
Livingston is a versatile prospect. He plays bully ball and has a solid frame thats built for contact. He can knock down the outside shot, put the ball on the ground and get past defenders, or post up and grind for buckets. His progression should make him one of Tampa’s top prospects in years to come.
