Same Face, New Place (Part 3)
As schools begin to open their doors for the first time this fall, each of the the transfer rumors being heard around the DMV are being confirmed. This series aims to highlight some of the most significant ones.
MALIK AND MASEO CARSON | BOWIE ’20
Malik Carson and Maseo Carson have decided to transfer to Bowie, and this is very significant. The Carson twins will join their older brother, Bobby, while adding depth and productivity to the wing for the Bulldogs.
RONELL GILES | CH FLOWERS ’19
Probably one of the more under-the-radar prospects in the local 2019 class, 6-foot-3 combo guard Ronell Giles will feature at CH Flowers after spending his first three years of high school at St. Vincent Pallotti. Look for Giles to be one of the top scorers and playmakers in the DMV area for the upcoming season.
JAMES GROSS JR. | ROCK CREEK CHRISTIAN ’21
Rock Creek Christian has an influx of new players, but arguably none more significant than James Gross Jr. At about 6-foot-2, Gross is an athletic freak with a very high ceiling, and will likely have plenty of opportunities to show what he can do this season.
TJ HORTON | PAUL VI ’20
TJ Horton led Mount Vernon in scoring as a sophomore last year, and has decided to challenge himself in the WCAC this season at PVI. At close to 6-foot-4, Horton will add depth and versatility on the wing for what should be one of the top teams in the country.
ZION RUSSELL | GEORGETOWN PREP ’21
Georgetown Prep graduates four seniors who committed to play college basketball from their 2018 class, and the addition of Zion Russell should help right away in terms of finding players who can add depth but also make an impact right away. Russell is a superb athlete and will bring great energy to any team.
