Recruiting Report: Norance Berry
Berry has emerged as a must-get for some of the southeast’s bigger name programs. The Cleveland, Tennessee native has picked up offers from Auburn, Tennessee, ETSU, James Madison, Tulane, LIU, Cal-Bakersfield, South Alabama, Jacksonville State and UT-Chattanooga.
In His Own Words
Berry tells me VCU, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Tulsa, Florida and Auburn have been staying in touch the most. “I am going to the Tennessee football game this weekend for an unofficial visit. Nebraska, UT-Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee State University have also reached out.”
A Look Ahead
With Jalen Lecque transferring out, this is going to be Berry’s team from the start. The 6-foot-4 guard is a mismatch problem for defenders and he can cause issues on the defensive end. When you think of a versatile guard that can score, understand the game, make others better and can defend his position, Berry is what you have. He is tough, has a solid core and a strong build. He is skilled with the ball in his hands and can take defenders off the dribble, he can step out and knock down the long shot from beyond the three-point line and can post up smaller guards.
Byerly’s Take
In my opinion, Berry would be a player that could stay at home and play at Tennessee and be close to a lot of family on home game nights and is a player that fits into the mold of Rick Barnes’ and the type of player he recruits. Berry is a strong defender and can score when he needs to. He had a strong summer playing with Tennessee based-B. Maze Elite AAU program.
