Recruiting Report: David Roddy (2019)
Breck forward David Roddy is a Mr. Basketball finalist favorite and one of the top available seniors in the state. Roddy is now down to three college basketball programs.
David – who is a two sport standout – is down to Colorado State, Minnesota, and Northwestern. Roddy is meeting with all three schools this week in his home, visits Minnesota this weekend, a visit is scheduled to Northwestern the second weekend of October, and he was at Colorado State last weekend.
“I’m very grateful for all the schools who have recruited me through this process,” David said. “But’s it’s those three schools throughout this process who have been consistent and showing me that I can succeed in their programs.”
What is Roddy looking for in a school?
“The relationships with the coaches and their opportunities and situations,” Roddy said. “Their styles of play also match what I’m interested in. Relationships and the overall fit with the school. Just the culture of the school, too. But there’s a lot that goes into this whole process.”
David of course has many college football programs showing interest but it looks like basketball will be his college sport.
“I think I’m just going to play one sport in college. It’s a very, very difficult task to play basketball and football, just because half of their season overlaps. I just don’t want to put that on myself.”
Roddy was at Colorado State with his parents last weekend.
“It was a great visit,” David said. “I had a lot of fun. We got to meet the team at a tailgate before the Arkansas game. Big Nico was my host for the weekend, so he took us to the game and we had a lot of fun. Then I got to hang out with them after the game.
“The city of Fort Collins was electric after they beat Arkansas, so I had a fun night with them. They took me around campus and showed me the campus, the classrooms and gave me a whole rundown of Colorado State. I really had a fun experience at Colorado State.”
