Recruiting Report: Daniel Deaver (2019)
6-foot-7 power forward Daniel Deaver of Marshall High School is one of the top available post prospects in the DMV, and is currently hearing from a variety of schools from all levels. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, Deaver discussed his recruitment in further detail while touching on other relevant topics.
PH: Which schools have been recruiting you hardest?
DD: “Dartmouth, VMI, West Point, and Coppin State. Merchant Marine Academy. I’m looking at Carnegie Mellon, John’s Hopkins too as well. That’s about it I think. I’ve eliminated a lot of choices that don’t have military.”
PH: Have you taken any visits?
DD: “I went to the Dartmouth Elite camp. I’m holding off on most of my visits right now while I figure some things out.”
PH: What factors are important for you in your decision?
DD: “Being close to home is important to me. I’d like to be close enough so that my family can watch me play. Also obviously education, which is high on my list.”
PH: What are your short and long-term goals?
DD: “For this season, I’d say the short term goal is to win another conference championship. I’d say we could get to states this year, but we’ll have to keep working and see where we can get as a team.
PH: What’s your role going to be like this season?
DD: “It’s going to change a lot because now I have to step up and take that leadership role. Take on a little bit more of the scoring role, but now that people know who I am I’ll be able to facilitate a lot more.”
