Recruiting Report: Cartier Bowman (2019)
Cartier Bowman, a 6-foot-5 wing out of Trenton, New Jersey, has transferred to West Nottingham Academy, where he should play a key role on both ends of the court throughout the season. Bowman saw his recruitment pick up during the summer months as he excelled in his “glue guy” role with Team Rio National on the UAA. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, he outlined his recruitment in further detail while touching on a few other topics.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game?
CB: “I’m very athletic. Can get to the basket. Pull up from the mid range. I’m a defensive stopper. I guard anybody, 1 through 5.”
PH: What’s your role going to be like this year?
CB: “I transferred to West Nottingham Academy in Maryland. Really, the coach wants me to be one of the main guys to help them win games.”
PH: What’s your GPA right now?
CB: “I’m at a 3.0.”
PH: Short term goals?
CB: “Short term goals, to win every game this year at West Nottingham. Long term, to make it to a high major division one college.”
PH: Who do you have offers from?
CB: “NJIT and Florida Atlantic.”
PH: Which schools do you have currently interest from?
CB: “All types of schools. Brown, Columbia, Colgate, Robert Morris, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John’s,St. Peter’s, Stony Brook. My recruitment has been going well this year.”
PH: What is the timetable for your decision?
CB: “I will probably commit after the season, close to the end of the school year. I don’t want to rush everything, just wait to see what other coaches come talk to me, and see what’s the best fit for me and my family.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
CB: “I don’t have to be that main guy to score. I can be that role player. That energy guy. Bring energy, rebound, defense. If they need me to score, score, but I can bring a lot.”
