Anthony Bowman, a class of 2019 wing from St. Charles (MD), is a nice under the radar prospect who impressed this summer, and is being actively recruited by a few local D2 and D3 programs at the moment. Bowman talked about his recruitment, his overall game, goals and much more during a recent interview with Prep Hoops.

PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, describe your game.

AB: “I would describe my game as a wing that can play point guard also because I see floor well, and I make good decisions for my teammates, but I also I am the leader for my team.”

PH: What’s the most improved part of your overall game in the last six months?

AB: “I think the most improved part of my game the last six months is my jumper, and I’ve also been working on getting stronger.”

PH: What else are you working on?

AB: “I work on my speed on the track with my trainer and lifting also and my jump-shot with my dad.”

PH: How are your grades?

AB: “My grades are good. Last year, my GPA was 3.4 throughout the whole year.”

PH: Who is recruiting you the hardest right now?

AB: “Right now, I am getting recruited the hardest by St. Mary’s College, Dickinson College, Nichols College, and Penn State Harrisburg. I have offers from Georgian Court and Southern New Hampshire as well.”

PH: Which schools have you visited? Which schools do you plan to visit?

AB: “I visited St. Mary’s last Thursday. I plan visiting to all the schools that are showing heavy interest in me. I am doing overnight visits to Penn State Harrisburg and St. Mary’s.”

PH: What are your short and long term goals?

AB: “Short term goal: This year I want to win a conference championship, a state championship, score my 1000th point (if possible), and to commit to a school where dad won’t have to pay for me to go. My long term goal is play the game I love in college, graduate college, and become a doctor or physical therapist.”

PH: What factors are important to you when considering colleges?

AB: “When choosing a college, I look at if I can come in and play right away. Also obviously the coaching staff, team chemistry, academics, dining halls, and dorms.”

PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?

AB: “I believe I am a great person on and off the court. I consider myself a leader that can get the job done in any position, but also play my role.”
