Prospect Watch: Hayden Thomas (2019)
Class of 2019 guard Hayden Thomas of Twin Rivers is one of those small-school gems that is hidden away in the Southeast part of the state.
The 6’2″ Thomas has been a standout at Twin Rivers since his freshman year, leading the team in scoring while performing just about every other duty that is asked of him from ball handling, rebounding, facilitating. Whatever position needs to be played, Thomas has been able to do it.
“Playing multiple positions has helped my game more that I would have thought,” Thomas said. “Also, I have seen from every point of view of playing every position on how each of them work. I have learned a lot and I am hoping to have a great senior year.”
Thomas projects as a shooting guard at the collegiate level and he has received interest from a number of schools at the NAIA, Division II and Division III levels.
Thomas enjoyed a very productive summer while playing the the SI Select 17U team. The big highlight of the summer was helping SI Select win the 17U National Championship at the AAU Nationals in Orlando in July. Thomas played a big role in the the team’s run to the championship with his perimeter shooting and excellent passing.
“It was very exciting to help my team win a national title,” he said. “It was something I’ve never done before, so getting to accomplish that for the first time was a blessing, but humbling. I have gained a lot of exposure and experience by playing with an against the best of the best competition across the country.”
Heading into his senior year, Thomas is looking to continue his multi-tasking on the court with the hopes of it translating into some success in the won-loss column.
Said Thomas, “My goals for my senior season are to win a district championship and to make All-State.”
