Prospect Spotlight: Trenton Picott (2021)
While it remains to see exactly what type of role Trenton Picott will have for Coach Mike Robinson at South County this year, we do know that he has a chance to make an impact this year as he continues to grow and develop. The 6-foot-4 forward is a versatile and efficient scoring threat, both inside and out, but also showed that he can potentially defend at a high level. Picott spoke more on his overall game and goals during a recent interview with Prep Hoops.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game?
TP: “I’m mainly a post guy. I’ll post somebody up, get a strong bucket. If I’m open for the three, I can knock it down or take it to the cup.”
PH: What’s the best coaching advice you’ve received? Who was it from?
TP: “Coach Mike (Robinson). He’s telling me that I gotta keep working hard. Telling me to do my pushups every night because I gotta get stronger.”
PH: How many push-ups do you do every night?
TP: “He tells me to do at least 100, but I max out at 150. I’ll do 50, take a break, and repeat.”
PH: What are your short and long term goals?
TP: “I want to play division one basketball in college. After college, I don’t know yet.”
PH: What’s the most underrated part of your game?
TP: “My ball-handling.”
PH: What do you think your role is going to be like this year?
TP: “To get a lot of rebounds, come in with a lot of energy, and just play hard.”
