Prospect Spotlight: Tanner Hecht (2021)
Wamego’s Tanner Hecht is gearing up for a breakout season in 2018-19 after a strong summer competing for SSA Elite.
A long, rangy 6’4 wing, Hecht is a player who is willing to share the ball, brings hustle and energy to the floor, as well as a versatile skill set. He can defend multiple positions thanks to his athleticism and length, can handle the ball a little on the perimeter, and can knock down perimeter shots.
He says he has spent much of the offseason focused on improving his ball handler and outside shooting, as well as his defensive positioning.
Hecht says he took his game to new heights throughout the summer competing with SSA Elite and hopes the experience has prepared him for the upcoming season.
“It was great … It taught me how to play with others I haven’t had much experience with before,” Hecht said.
A fan of Chris Paul and Kawhi Leonard, Hecht says watching the NBA All-Stars has shown him how to score efficiently and play good on-ball defense against good ball handlers.
his dad has had the biggest impact on his basketball career to date.
“He walked on at KSU and his knowledge has helped me,” Hecht said.
