Prospect Spotlight: Luke Schrotenboer (2019)
Every at coach, at every level, wants a dedicated team player. Luke Schrotenboer is that type of young man. He is a 6’4” shooting guard / small forward in the class of 2019. Schrotenboer attends Grand Rapids South Christian and played grassroots basketball for Sporting U. Last season he averaged 12ppg, 4rpg, and 2apg. Last week he was registered for the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. Unfortunately, an injury kept him sidelined for the event. With true dedication, Schrotenboer showed up for the event anyway. It was a classic case of a young man dedicated to the game and enjoying all the experiences it brings.
Luke Schrotenboer has a strong skill set that will be on display this coming season. He has a high basketball IQ, giving his team a steady influence on the floor. Schrotenboer is an athletic shooter. This allows him to create his own looks from deep and to be a target on the perimeter off a drive and dish. Scheotenboer is working hard to improve his ball handling and playmaking ability.
Schrotenboer is primed and ready for a big senior year. Coming off a season in which his team beat Godwin Heights in the District Final, he is expecting success. Schrotenboer has set goals for this year. He wants to “have a good time playing with my friends and hopefully get some interest from college coaches.”
Luke Schrotenboer certainly has many skills and qualities that are desirable for coaches at the next level. His love for the game and attitude about it speak for themselves. He has a college build for a wing and every team can use a shooter. Schrotenboer is eyeing a future as a college basketball player. He would like to pursue a degree in business or sports management. Schrotenboer has received interest from Division 3 and NAIA schools.
Schrotenboer draws his motivation from his Dad. “He played basketball in college and I grew up knowing the game because he’s a coach, and I do not want to disappoint him.” As his recruitment takes shape this coming season, one thing is guaranteed: Luke Schrotenboer will not be disappointing anyone.
