Prospect spotlight: Jax Holland (2019)
Maranatha Christian Academy 2019 guard Jax Holland is emerging this offseason as one of the state’s premier small school prospects as he gears up for his senior season.
At 6’2, Holland brings intensity to both ends of the floor. He is a terrific perimeter shooter, capable of creating his own shot off the dribble, is a good catch-and-shoot player on the arc, and is always looking to get teammates involvred.
Holland spent the offseason competing for Marcus Denmon Elite and says the environment helped him prepare for the upcoming season.
“I loved playing for them because our coaches always pushed us to be our and were always very encouraging,” Holland said. “I think that playing this summer prepared me a lot for my upcoming season. We played a lot of really good teams with really good players and that pushed me to get better and to work on my game.”
Holland says he has spent much of the offseason working on his ball handling, getting to the basket and creating his own shot.
A fan of NBA point guard Russell Westbrook, Holland says the biggest influence on his basketball career to date has been his dad.
“He has always supported me and helped me train to become the player I am today and encourages me to be the best player I can be,” Holland said.
Holland is hearing from multiple college programs, including Covenant College, Roosevelt University, Colby College and the University of St Mary (Kansas).
