Prospect Spotlight: Frank Bartley (2021)
A two-sport standout from Spring Valley, 5-foot-10 shooting guard Frank Bartley is a guy that is could have a breakout sophomore season on the hardwood.
It’s his willingness to put defense first and a gritty style of play first that makes him a player that should be noticed.
“I would consider myself a defense-first player,” said Bartley. “Offensively, I would say I’m a slasher. I can hit the open jumper when needed and usually the mid-range.”
He added: “Some things I need to work on are getting stronger with my left hand and going to the bucket a little stronger. And moving my feet better on defense.”
This past spring and summer, Bartley was playing with Vegas Elite 16U. He says things went well, and again, it was defense that he says was his best asset.
“It was good, we had some ups and downs, but overall we were good. I fit in good with the guys on the team and my role was to control the tone of the game in a way. I set the tone defensively,” he said.
Currently, Bartley is in the middle of his sophomore season on the gridiron. In just two months, his sophomore season on the hardwood will begin. He’s looking to make a big impact with the varsity this winter.
“I fit in good so far with the varsity guys,” said Bartley. “And my role will be to come out and play defense as usual, get my teammates hyped up and get the energy up when I’m out there on the floor.”
