Prospect Intro: Alandre Murphy (2021)
Elizabethtown has to replace one of the best players in school history after the graduation of Darius Harding. The rising sophomore class is full of solid players looking to make their mark this season and Alandre Murphy is hoping to do his part to get the Panthers back to the regional tournament and possibly even further in 2019. A point guard, Murphy says of his game, “I’m explosive and can get to the basket. I’m a good 3 point shooter and my handles are crisp.” Heading into his first season of varsity basketball, Alandre’s only goal for himself is to “prove myself to everyone” and hopes to help get his team to the state tournament at Rupp Arena in March.
For his 15u AAU season, Murphy ran with All In Athletics. Alandre told me, “The season went good but we came up short at nationals in the third round.” But coming out of his AAU season, Murphy thinks he can can take improved explosion, better ball handling and a more consistent jump shot into his high school season. Alandre also has high expectations for himself this season, including “getting others involved more this season and focusing on myself.” And Murphy ultimately wants to help his team get to the state tournament. The 5th region is relatively wide open this season and Elizabethtown has a chance if their young players step up. Alandre Murphy just hopes for a chance to help his team reach their ultimate goals.
