Preseason All-Conference: Iowa Star South
Player of the Year: 2019 Will Clapper, Baxter
The league’s leading returning scorer, the future college gridiron star is the South’s top player. He averaged a double-double for the Bolts last year in their first year after breaking off from Collins-Maxwell, and he’ll be looking to help Baxter get to the top of the division this year.
First Team
2019 Will Clapper, Baxter (17.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, 60.3 FG%)
The 6-4 forward averaged a double-double last year and shot 60% from the floor. A big, physical and athletic forward, he’ll post monster numbers this year for the Bolts.
2019 Brayden Peterson, GMG Garwin (17.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 51.3 FG%)
A talented scoring wing who can score inside and out, Peterson looks like a threat to average 20+ a night this winter.
2020 Cole Damman, Baxter (12.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.2 steals, 54 3PM)
Damman’s 54 made 3s lead the South’s returnees by a significant margin, and the junior guard is an all-around stat sheet stuffer for Baxter.
2019 Tate Bear, Meskwaki Settlement (15.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists)
A talented 6-3 combo forward who averaged nearly a double-double last year, Bear is an athletic forward capable of dominating games on either end of the floor.
2019 Aaron Fleming, GMG Garwin (13.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists)
A gunner who fits well alongside Peterson, Fleming is the team’s most willing shooter and a solid scoring threat from anywhere on the floor. If he can improve on his efficiency (37.2 FG% last year), watch out.
