Prep Hoops Top 250: Top Shooters (Part 1)
Year 3 of the Prep Hoops Top 250 took place in Florida on Sept. 9.
The 2018 showcase was held at Daytona Mainland High School where a record 220 prospects competed on the day. 12 college programs were on hand with 10 video companies came out for the day.
Here is the first part of the top shooters list.
Rivers Lenholt (Canterbury)
When Rivers Lenholt gets going, he is truly hard to slow down. As an outside shooter, Lenholt has reliable form and as a mid-range stretch shooter, he gets it done. The 2020 St. Pete Canterbury guard has grown as an attacker since last season. At 6’1″, Lenholt, he has a high IQ and a great work ethic and is going into another season as a true leader.
Zach Mobley (Riverview)
Transferring over from Winter Park, Zach Mobley is going to bring a true sharpshooting mentality to Sarasota Riverview. A team packed with athletes and size, the 6’3″ 2020 guard was firing from deep often at the Top 250 Expo and doing his thing as a passer and slasher. Mobley will acclimate to the new squad as a junior and it should pay dividends.
James Cone (Naples)
At 6’5″, James Cone has the ideal size and shooting poise to make the most of his basketball skills. The 2021 Naples guard is already a scoring threat in just his sophomore campaign and he proved why at the expo. Cone is at his best as a spot up shooter, but he can create his own buckets often. He’s pretty much automatic if you leave him open.
Jack Murrah (Maclay)
Now at Maclay, 6’3″ guard Jack Murrah had some bright moments at the expo. The 2019 athlete is a sneaky good cutter to the rim and a very good communicator on the floor. He isn’t the fastest guy, but his skinny frame and length help him in many ways.
Laziz Talipov (Winter Park)
A young and smart kid, Laziz Talipov is a shooter first and foremost. The 5’10” Winter Park guard has plenty of time to work into the lineup and mature his game. He needs to gain strength to improve his attacking game, but his ability to catch and shoot is coming together. Talipov is a name to monitor moving forward.
