Prep Hoops Top 250: New Names We Learned (Part 2)
Year 3 of the Prep Hoops Top 250 took place in Florida on Sept. 9.
The 2018 showcase was held at Daytona Mainland High School where a record 220 prospects competed on the day. 12 college programs were on hand with 10 video companies came out for the day.
Here is the second part of the new names we learned list.
ICYMI: Part 1
Dexter Hamilton II (Calvary Christian)
A key player off the bench for Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian a season ago, 2019 guard Dexter Hamilton II is ready for more responsibility. The 5’10” athlete was driving to the rim, kicking it out to his teammates and showing off his high IQ. Hamilton II is an intelligent basketball player who should flourish with more playing time this fall.
Zach Grodzki (Lake Highland Prep)
There is a real chance for Zach Grodzki to be a double-digit scorer this season at Lake Highland Prep. The 6’5″ guard/forward possesses the instincts and length of a reliable varsity starter. A 2019 prospect, Grodzki was scoring on attacks and mid-range jumpers often at the showcase.
Lorenzo Harrison (Melbourne)
Making it to the Top 20 All-Star Game in the underclassmen group, Lorenzo Harrison was one of the most athletic players in attendance this year. A 6’4″ forward, Harrison is only entering his sophomore season. At a pretty deep Melbourne group, the 2021 prospect should be a true energy piece for his side.
Zyhir Sims (Fletcher)
A maturing guard who is flashy with the ball and mighty quick, Zyhir Sims made the trip from Jacksonville. Entering his sophomore campaign, the 6’1″ Fletcher guard has very good court vision and loves to run the floor on the break. He’s a 2021 prospect to keep a close eye on in North Florida.
Ronnie Johnson (Tampa Bay Tech)
Tampa Bay Tech always develops athletic and undersized guards. Ronnie Johnson fits the bill and is slightly taller than the previous starters at his 5’11” frame. The 2021 guard shined in sets where he found guys all over on passes and hit from the mid-range well.
Kendall Bean (Atlantic)
Kendall Bean has been flying under the radar for much too long. The 2020 6’2″ Atlantic guard was quietly dependable at the showcase. His outside jumper is polished along with his handles and his communication skills. Bean makes everyone around him better. I expect him to be a true point man for the Sharks this season.
