Prep Hoops Arizona Sweet 16 Preview: Top Players Attending
Oct. 12th-13th come and see some high quality high school basketball! Some of the top talent will be in attendance as well of 16 of the top programs in AZ. Locations include Ironwood High School, Apollo High School, and Glendale Community College. Here are some of the teams/players that will be featured in this event:
Hillcrest Prep: Kyree Walker, Dalen Terry, and Jeron Artest are some of AZ’s best talent. Kyree has made national head way while Terry and Artest have gathered a ton of college interest of their own. All of their games are a must see event.
Apollo: Apollo looks like the preseason front-runner for the 5A State Championship. The team is led by Emmanuel Taban and Paris Woods. Taban is one of the best players in the entire state, while Woods has a ton of potential. As a freshman, Woods averaged 11.4 points on varsity.
Sandra Day O’Connor: Keaton Rodgers leads this time, averaging 14 points per game last season. This kid is a scoring machine, being able to shoot it deep and use his strength to get him into the paint. He has really progressed as a shooter, which should lead to more impressive numbers this season.
Ironwood: This young team is led by Dominic Gonzalez, JJ White, and Bailon Black. All three of these guards have the ability to handle the ball and shoot at an extremely high rate but they all have their own signature style that sets them apart. They should put on a great show!
Ironwood Ridge: Ironwood Ridge will be intriguing, I am very interested to see how they do under a new coach. I’ve heard only good things about new head coach, LeSean Marks. Ironwood Ridge has some solid players as well: Benny Felix, Kolby Lathrop, and Richie Dowse are among their top players. Felix is a knockdown shooter, Lathrop has a ton of potential due to his size and athleticism, and Dowse is a great on-ball defender.
