PHI Top 250: Underclassmen
The Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 finished up this past weekend and with over 160 prospects from the area coming into Fishers High School, we had a great look at those players we knew, and a bunch we didn’t. There were a ton of great performances that made us look at guys in a new light.
Today, we are diving into those players from the 2021 and 2022 classes. We take a look at the top underclassmen at the event. Here is the list.
Brooks Barnhizer – 6’5 SF 2021 – Lafayette Jeff (IN)
Brooks is a new name you are going to want to follow because he could end up as one of the better players in the state in the 2021 class. A big wing who can shoot at a very high level and make plays all over the floor. Solid athletically and can really impact the game on either end of the floor with his effort level.
D.J. Hughes – 6’7 PF 2021 – Lawrence Central (IN)
Hughes continues to develop into a top end prospect. Has really gotten better as a dribble-drive player and uses the lane as a vehicle to the rim and scores it at a ridiculously efficient level. Shouldn’t be too long until he lands his first offer.
Douglas Konieczny Jr. – 6’6 SF 2021 – South Bend St. Joseph (IN)
Konieczny may be a sleeper in the class but that doesn’t stop him from being one of the best players in every event he is in. Not just in his class but the entire event. Really long and lean with a stellar shooting stroke and now showing a bit of creation into the middle of the floor.
Kyle Ross – 6’6 PF 2021 – Andrean (IN)
Ross is looking a bit better with his movement and that is great because he’s got solid footwork in the post and a body that isn’t going to give up space down low. He’s got a lot of skill and a game that stretches into the wing. He’s going to have to become as agile and quick as possible because if he does, he’s going to take his game to a way bigger level.
Vinny Buccilla – 6’2 SG 2021 – Hamilton Southeastern (IN)
Vinny consistently goes about his business and makes plays each game I see him in. Nothing flashy but quick with the ball, decisive at times, and passes really well while still having an impact scoring the ball. Looking more and more like a really good on-ball guard that is going to play well at the next level.
