Maryland/DC/VA Freshman Watch List (Part 2)
In anticipation of the upcoming high school season, we will be taking a closer look at various teams and players in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. In part one of our freshman watch list, we highlight some of the summer’s biggest class of 2022 standouts.
TYRELL WARD | DEMATHA
DeMatha’s 6-foot-5 freshman Tyrell Ward is already tracking among the top local prospects in his class, and it doesn’t take long to see just how high his ceiling is once you watch him play. Ward can do a bit of everything on both ends of the court.
SHANE LANCASTER | ST. JOHN’S
Shane Lancaster has a good chance to be a name we will hear for years to come in the DMV. Lancaster a big point guard at around 6-foot-2. He can get in the lane consistently, can score it, and has a good feel for the game.
KNASIR “DUG” MCDANIEL | PAUL VI
It looks like Knasir “Dug” McDaniel could be next in the long line of elite point guards to come through PVI. The skilled, quick and crafty floor general is a great team player who can also get his when he needs to.
JUDAH MINTZ | GONZAGA
Judah Mintz has done nothing but produce this summer, and is heading into his freshman year at Gonzaga with a ton of momentum. We like his intriguing blend of size, skill, and athleticism to go along with his length and shot making ability.

RODNEY RICE | BULLIS
Rodney Rice is a nice prospect, and probably one of the best incoming freshman in the IAC. The long lanky lead guard can shoot the 3, but is also a skilled and crafty playmaker. Rice is definitely one to track for the future.
