If there is one thing that Stewart proved all summer long, it is that he is capable of getting a bucket any time he wants, and there isn’t much the defense can do to stop him. He can score at all three levels, but really excels from behind the 3 point line as well as using his athleticism and elite length to allow him to finish at some pretty ridiculous angles in the paint. It will be interesting to see the role that he plays for Dunham this upcoming season, as this will be his first season eligible after transferring in as a freshman. He is going to be joining a loaded team that is coming off a state championship.
Carter Domingue 6’2 PG St. Thomas More
Domingue during the regular season last year proved that he was one of the best guards in the state for his class, and he has as good a chance as anyone to wind up as the top guard of the 2021 class for Louisiana. He attacks the rim with a fearless ferocity, and is able to use his above average size for a guard to shield off defenders and finish through contact. He sees the floor really well when attacking, and is a willing passer when the helpside defense steps up. It is a real shame that he picked up a back injury in early April, keeping him from playing circuit ball, because I think had he been healthy, he would have gotten some real college attention playing against the best of the best from his age.
Tyrease Johnson 6’0 G KIPP Booker T. Washington
I was first able to see Johnson’s game last summer when he played up 15u as a 14 year old for EP Elite, and was able to have a pretty big game despite playing up an age. You could tell even then that Johnson just has a knack for putting the ball in the hoop. He is a really strong attacker when going to the goal, and is able to use his big frame to simply bounce off of defenders and finish through contact. I am interested in seeing how he is able to play for his high school team, and if he is able to lead them to one of the better finishes in KIPP Booker T. Washington’s historry
Theo Johnson 5’11 G Bonnabel
Johnson is a really quick and shifty lead guard that is capable of getting wherever he wants to on the court. He is a really talented scorer, and is just the next guard of in a line of D1 point guards that Bonnabel has been producing lately. He showed off his elite ability to score the basket this summer playing for EP Elite, and was one of their more consistent scorers. Bonnabel is going to need for him to take a big step forward this season, with the departure of TJ Collins, but with a three headed monster in Theo, Rodney Munson, and Donte Mitchell, Bonnabel has a chance to be one of the few teams that lost a D1 player without taking a step back.
Jakobe Walker 5’10 G De La Salle
Walker is another guard that is built in the small but speedy build that New Orleans has a knack for helping create as of late. He has a strong ball handling ability, and can get up the court in the blink of an eye. He is a good passer when attacking the rim, and is able to find shooter and cutters on the backside. He played a pretty big role for a freshman on a really good De La Salle team that has become perennial title contenders, and I look for that role to continue to build for the Cavaliers this season.
