Indiana Picks Up Key In-State Target In Franklin
One of the top prospects on the board came off on Thursday evening when Cathedral (IN) guard Armaan Franklin made his commitment to Indiana University. The 6’5 prospect had really developed into a top end player over the last two years and become a nationally ranked prospect who has decided to stay home.
Franklin picked Indiana over offers from Purdue, Xavier, IUPUI, Morehead State, Evansville, Miami (OH), Ball State, Toledo, Butler, Ohio State, Louisville, DePaul, and Clemson. At the end, it was between the two powerhouse in-state schools in Indiana and Purdue but coming off an official visit recently to the Hoosiers, it had the makings of Red and White.
For Indiana, they got a really explosive guard with good size and athleticism on the perimeter. Franklin is very good defensively, given his size and length, he should continue to develop into a really solid player on that end for the Big Ten. Offensively, he’s made strides with his shooting ability and was improved by the end of the AAU season with Meanstreets.
He should fit well into their system giving Archie Miller and the Hoosiers some versatility for a guy that can play on the ball a bit but also the 2/3 position. He’s going to have to improve some more as a dribble-drive scorer, really just cleaning up the efficiency. Armaan could be a key four-year player for the Hoosiers that can be a spark plug off the bench early in his career.
