Hoke County HS Preview: The New Look Bucks
The Hoke County Bucks had an outstanding season last year finishing with a record of 26-2, with the loss of four out of five starters due to graduation as well as a few bench players leaving, the Bucks will be in somewhat of a rebuilding year. Although they lost a lot from last season, don’t be surprised to see some of the role and bench players step up to perform well once they get their opportunity to shine.
Senior Guard Eli Harris: He takes over a high amount of responsibility as he is one of the older and more experienced players on the team. This will be his third year of varsity basketball and we have seen him put in a ton of time during the offseason perfecting his craft. Can knock down outside shots, is a solid defender and has a nice feel for the game, expect a good year from him.
Sophomore Guard Jaquantae Harris: This could very well be the breakout year for Jaquantae Harris as far as recruitment and production. His talent his clear, he can score he ball in bunches and has very impressive athletic ability. We are truly interested to see how he takes on his new role, we truly feel he will be successful this season and will turn plenty of heads.
Junior Forward Angel Dean: He played in spurts last year but will probably be a high minutes guy this year at the forward spot. Talent wise he is still raw but he brings a toughness that you like and that you need from a player that is an undersized big.
Senior Forward Kaliah Singletary: A football player that does some work on the court as well, he will be another player that can give them some nice minuets of physical play inside the paint. The role that he plays for the squad is more of an enforcer, and garbage man, his physicality from playing football should translate right over to the court.
Junior Forward Kevin Garcia: Kevin is one that we expect to see a nice increase in not only his time on the floor but also his production. The combination of a smooth shooting stroke with the ability to finish above the rim are things that we like about him already, the next step for him is playing with confidence on a consistent basis.
