Get To Know Him – Drew Cole
This week will we feature three student-athletes and “Get To Know” them. On Friday we will roll out a questionnaire to test your knowledge and learn facts about some of the players around South Dakota.

A Few Fun Facts About Cole:
- He plays high school golf as well as basketball
- On game days he absolutely has to have skittles at some point before the game
- Didn’t get into basketball until a couple years later than most of his teammates. They wanted him to play because of his height so he did.
Where Have You Heard of Him Before?
Last year the junior led the Bobcats in scoring with 13.4 points per game and also in rebound with six. He was an All-ESD honorable mention. Cole is very skillful on the offensive and can score in about every facet of the game. He scored in double figures in 17 different games last season capping it off with a career-high of 30 against Sioux Falls O’Gorman. In the Fall before basketball season, Cole qualified for the AA state golf meet last year. He tied for 39 with a 161 for 17 over par. At the Brookings Invitational this year Cole tied for 78th with a score of 90.

Who is Drew Cole on and off the court?
DC: I think of myself as a calm, easing going guy off the court and on the court, I think I’m a scorer, but I love setting up my teammates to score as well.
Is there a story behind your number?
DC: I always wanted to be No. 35 because of Kevin Durant, but there was no No. 35, so I chose No. 25 instead.
Who is your favorite athlete?
DC: My favorite basketball player is without a doubt Kevin Durant. I liked him a lot more in OKC, but he’s still my favorite.
What’s your favorite thing to eat?
DC: My favorite thing to eat was Toppers Stix from Toppers, but they closed the one in Brookings so I haven’t had them in a while.
What’s your favorite sport?
DC: Basketball. It’s been my favorite since I started in fifth grade.
Who’s been your biggest inspiration thus far?
DC: My inspiration is my family. They’re hardworking and always pushing me to get better.
