Georgia State Keeps Pipeline Open, Lands Jalen Windham
The pipeline of Indiana players heading down south to Georgia State has been growing a ton over the last few years. Former IUPUI head coach, now Georgia State head coach Ron Hunter Sr. has been down there for seven seasons and has used his strong contacts in the state to pull out some of the top players in Indiana not only from high school but on the transfer market too and he’s found massive success.
From his son R.J. Hunter, who is now in the NBA, to Jeremy Hollowell to Justin Roberts. Now, he dug his heels in and picked up one of the state’s best shooters in 2019 prospect Jalen Windham. The 6’5 shooter is coming off an improved summer on the EYBL circuit with Indy Heat 2019.
Windham had offers from IUPUI, Toledo, Western Michigan, Miami (OH), Ohio, UAB, South Dakota and Georgia State.
Now, he will look to fill a role at the college level as a top end shooter. For Jalen, he has a solid handle on the ball and has shown flashes of developing into more of a creation guy. Likely, that would end up giving him more avenues to shoot not only from deep but also as a pull-up guy in the mid-range. That should be enough to possibly get him some playing time early at Georgia State. They have four players graduating after this season and that could help to give him some solid minutes early on.
Between now and then, he will end up as the leader for a Ben Davis team that is going to try and replace a lot of scoring gone from their roster from a season previous, namely the spot of Aaron Henry who is now at Michigan State. He, along with Dawand Jones, will be the catalyst for this team and give more freedom to him to make plays, again, something he showed was a growing part of his game this summer.
