DMV Dark Horse Scoring Threats (Part 2)
In anticipation of the upcoming high school season, we will be taking a closer look at various teams and players throughout the DC Metro Area. In this edition we run down players who could find themselves among the leading scorers in the area this year.
JASON GIBSON | SIDWELL FRIENDS ’19
Jason Gibson has been a big time player at Sidwell for a few years now, and his role continues to grow each season. Gibson is entering his just his second full high school season at the starting point guard spot, but we expect him to show plenty of progress and consistently produce throughout the year.
JUNIOR LOTONGO | ANNANDALE ’19
Lotongo visited Washington & Jefferson this week.Junior Lotongo is one of the main guys on Annandale, and is coming off a junior campaign in which he averaged close to 20 a game, earning first team all district and all region honors. Lotongo is a threat to knock down the three ball with consistency, but his ability to attack the basket and get to the line should make him even more of a handful for opposing defenses.
DARIUS MADDOX | ST. JOHN’S ’20
Darius Maddox is trending up in terms of his recruitment, but is yet to do serious damage at the WCAC level yet. We believe that this is the year for Maddox, and his much improved defense means he will have something to fall back on if he’s having an off night.
CAMERON SAVAGE | SOUTH LAKES ’19
Cameron Savage is entering his fourth year as the starting point guard at South Lakes, and we expect this to be his finest in terms of productivity. Savage is coming off an excellent summer with The District, and should be one of the best players in Northern Virginia this year.
DIMINGUS STEVENS | WOODROW WILSON ’20
Dimingus Stevens can be the most dangerous scoring threat you will find in the DMV on a given night. At 6-foot-5, he is a skilled and crafty scoring wing who can make it rain from long range, and can do so in a hurry.
LOUIS TANG | ST. MARY’S RYKEN ’19
Louis Tang has done nothing but produce this summer, and looks poised for a breakout. Tang has improved so much in such a short time, and we see no reason why this trend should not continue.
