College Commitment: Elijah Pepper (2019 Selah HS)
Elijah Pepper has been a busy young man this fall. The shifty 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard from Selah High School made a name for himself on the AAU circuit and college offers started to roll in. Pepper had four official visits scheduled but after the second one, he decided it was time to wrap up his recruitment.
On Sunday afternoon after his official visit to UC Davis, Pepper announced that he had verbally committed to the Aggies. “I ended up loving the atmopshere there,” Pepper said. “I love the place and I love the coaches. I would go there and contribute a lot and would have a great chance to win.”
Pepper’s memories of his visit were fresh and he described what he saw during his time there in Davis. “It’s a huge campus, a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be,” Pepper said. “There are a ton of bikes – it was insane, there were like no cars there at all. The facilities there are really nice – the practice gym was really nice and the place they play was pretty big, a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be.”
The trip to UC Davis was Pepper’s second on his itinerary of four official visits, having previously visited Lehigh. There were plans to visit Utah State and Bradley, but both of those will no longer take place. With the recruiting process now over for him, Pepper can now focus on his goals for the season ahead.
“Win state for sure,” Pepper said. “We just have to have everybody contributing and not just a few of us, and everybody doing it every night. I just want to lead the team and do whatever it takes for us to win.”
