2021 Post Stock Risers
Post players are the group that takes the longest to develop. Several young power forwards and centers made big jumps in their game and ranking. We look at them here!
Grant Newell (Whitney Young)
Previous Ranking: #21
Current Ranking: #7
Newell showed what he needed to do to take over as the top ranked power forward in the class during July. He has a lot of projectability to play as a combo forward at the next level. Most effective right now as a face up four working from the mid-range and in with his feathery jumper and athleticism.
Scotty Ebube (Mundelein)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #12
Ebube jumped on our radar after we saw him at all three events in July with Kessel Heat. He is a physical post that mauls on the interior. Definitely a physically developed body at a young age, but he also displayed some quick twitch around the hoop and was efficient with his touches.
Kevin Bozeman (Downers Grove North)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #22
Bozeman might have the most upside of any of the Breakaway 15U prospects that won the PrepHoops Summer Challenge. Coming off the bench the 6’5” Downers Grove North combo forward moves very well on both ends of the floor. High pointed multiple rebounds in traffic and displayed shot blocking potential. Still pretty raw offensively, but one to definitely keep tabs on.
Brian Mathews (DePaul Prep)
Previous Ranking: #47
Current Ranking: #23
Mathews is a prospect that has stood out in camps throughout his young career and that was the reason he took another leap forward. At the West Coast Elite camp he looked a lot stronger than we had previously seen him and he used that strength around the hoop to both score and board. Should see more minutes this season on varsity.
Julian Campbell (Palatine)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #66
Campbell is a huge bodied center at 6’6” that takes up space on the interior. In the past we have seen him hang out quite a bit on the perimeter, but it was his play inside that impressed in spurts during July for the Illinois Wolves. Great job rebounding in traffic and finished with a soft touch. A lot of put backs for the Palatine big man.
