2021 : Players on the Move
Prep Hoops takes a look at some players from the 2021 class and where they will be headed this season.
Jacobi Wright – York Prep to Fort Mill HS (pictured on front)
Wright is point guard is ranked #2 in the 2021 class. Wright can penetrate the gaps and get to the rack at will. Wright has great court vision and can really create plays for others on the floor. Wright ran the Grassroots Circuit with Team CP3.
Yaturi Bolton – Cathedral Academy (North Charleston) to Goose Creek HS
Bolton 6’5 came on the season last year at the small SCISA 1-A school for the Generals. Bolton should factor into Gators Head Coach Blake Hall plans this season at the 5-A school. Bolton averaged 6.1 ppg and 6.3 rebounds last season for the Generals.
Umar Lawson – Lakewood HS (Sumter) to Laurence Manning Academy
Lawson could be the back bone piece to the Swamp Cats team this coming season. Lawson 6’1 left-handed shooting guard will be a major player for Head Coach Will Epps and the future of the program.
Jasean Morris – Dreher HS to Keenan HS
Morris sat out last season at Dreher HS for the Blue Devils. Prep Hoops saw Morris 6’5 plays with the Blue Devils this summer in the Newberry Team Camp.
Justus Boone – Sumter HS to Laurence Manning Academy
Boone right now is playing football for Robbie Briggs and the Swamp Cats. Boone 6’5 should look to contribute this season right away on the glass.
Chris Rhone – Northside Christian (Lexington) to Gray Collegiate
Rhone 6’3 was the top player last season at Northside Christian. Rhone has good size on the perimeter and defends the passing lanes well. .
Amere Cherry – John Paul II (Ridgeland) to Richland Northeast HS
Cherry 5’11 averaged 18 ppg last season for the Golden Warriors.
Marcus Lane – Sumter HS to Laurence Manning Academy
Lane is a dual sport athlete for the Swamp Cats. Lane 5’8 should join Lawson and Boone on the floor this season for the some quality minutes.
